A Lost Destiny 2 Character Makes A Cryptic Return in Lightfall

Somehow, Asher Mir is back.

With the release of Destiny 2: Lightfall, players are diving into the game’s story and uncovering hidden clues about where the story will go next. A surprise detail hidden in one of Lightfall’s activities features a brief cameo from one of Destiny 2’s more memorable supporting characters, Awaken Warlock Asher Mir.

Located on a raised platform, he signals the player to approach him. He doesn’t speak, but gives the familiar glare that players give when visiting him with his Io.

However, he leaves a more direct message for players with a description of the Inside Line Sparrow lore available to players from the Season Pass rewards. If you look into Inside Line lore, you’ll find the Morse code message “STILL ALIVE INSIDE NETWORK IDIOT KIDS.”

For those who played OG Destiny 2, Asher Mir was a nasty character who often made derogatory comments. In short, it’s a classic asher meal.

Origin of Asher Mir

Support vendor Asher Mir, one of the original characters when Destiny 2 launched in 2017, was on the planet Io, which had been taken over by factions of Vex, Cabal, and Taken. As his one of the planet’s main characters, he provides players with details about Io’s history and clues regarding Vex his Priamidion, a Vex fortress that stretches beyond space and time. In the early stages of Destiny 2, Asher Mir was a Vex guru, experimenting with the Vex network and investigating the Pyramidion and its many infiltrations.

However, with the release of Beyond Light in 2020, Bungie has scrapped a good chunk of Destiny 2’s content, including several planets, activities, and characters. Unfortunately, this massive vault contained NPCs like Asher Mir and Thrawn from planet Titan. Story-wise, darkness has invaded the solar system, engulfing several planets and wiping them from existence. does not know who this character is. Nonetheless, for longtime Destiny 2 fans, this is the clearest confirmation that Asher Mir is still alive, and more could come from him in the future.
