As announced at today’s THQ showcase, the publisher will bring back Alone in the Dark after acquiring the franchise from Atari SA in 2018. Described as a “love letter” to the original series, Alone in the Dark again follows private investigator Edward Carnby. Dive into Delceto Manor, a home for the mentally weary.

Alongside Edward, players also play as Emily Hartwood, the niece of the mansion’s missing owner. Each character experiences the game’s events from a unique perspective. Check out the first trailer below.

Alone in the Dark tells a new and original story, but reimagines elements of 90’s survival horror video games, including original characters, locations and themes. Solve puzzles, explore Derceto Manor in peril, and fight fearsome monsters.

During a briefing with the media, the developer revealed that one of Alone in the Dark’s key themes was to convey a Southern Gothic flavor that was particularly appropriate given its Louisiana setting. We also saw gameplay that included a third-person perspective, with Edward shooting particularly dangerous monsters.
