After being abandoned for over two months, AMD’s Radeon RX 6000 series graphics cards are still some of the best GPUs out there and can finally welcome new drivers. Fulfilling that promise, AMD rolled out his Adrenalin Edition 23.2.1 driver for his RDNA 2 powered graphics cards. However, not just the RX 6000 series, the integrated driver also supports his RX 7000 series and RX 400 series and newer GPUs.
The Adrenalin Edition 23.2.1 driver is Abandoned and Dead SpaceBut of course, no driver update would be without performance improvements. AMD claims the Adrenalin Edition 23.2.1 driver will deliver up to 7% higher 4K performance. Abandoned up to 4% in Hogwarts Legacy Compared to the previous Adrenalin Edition 23.2.1 driver released in December 2022. F1 2022 AMD measured up to 19% performance improvement, making it the most noticeable improvement.
AMD used the Radeon RX 6950 XT to compare the performance of the two drivers (the 7000 series drivers received many of these updates earlier). Additionally, the chipmaker is putting more emphasis on his Vulkan with this release. Also added support for his IREE compiler which uses his MLIR interface with Vulkan and some Vulkan extensions.

Radeon RX 6900 series owners will be happy to know that the features that Radeon RX 7900 series users have been enjoying are finally available. AMD provides optimizations for H.264 and H.265 streaming with Adrenalin Edition 23.2.1 drivers and beneficial updates to AMD Link. The chipmaker stressed that users of Radeon RX 7900 series graphics cards should also download the new version.
The latest version of OBS Studio comes with an optimized encoder shaped for AMD’s Radeon RX 6000 and RX 7000 series graphics cards. Additionally, the software supports his AV1 encoding acceleration for the latter.
