AMD’s Mid-Range B650/B650E Platforms for Zen 4 Coming in October
AMD’s affordable B650 and B650E platforms for Ryzen 7000-series CPUs in AM5 packages may be closer than expected as the company’s partners are already set to showcase them in early October. .
AMD will host a presentation called Meet the Experts. “Exclusive premiere of B650 and B650E AM5 motherboards” On October 4th (10am CDT) partners will announce details of affordable motherboards for AM5 processors. Among the new platform highlights, AMD mentions support for Ryzen 7000 series processors, dual channel DDR5 and PCIe 5.0 interconnect.
Asus, ASRock, Biostar, Gigabyte, and MSI have unveiled their AMD B650 and B650E lineups, highlighting key features at the event.
The biggest question, of course, is when motherboard makers will actually start selling their products based on AMD’s B650 and B650E chipsets. The B650/B650E is expected to shorten the time lag between announcement and sales.
AMD’s high-end enthusiast-grade AMD X670 and AMD X670E platforms for the Ryzen 7000 series CPUs, which are set to hit the market on September 27th, promise very advanced connectivity and impressive overclocking capabilities. Unfortunately, as the list of Asus and MSI motherboards shows, many of them are prohibitively expensive, a prerogative of die-hard enthusiasts and deep-pocketed gamers.
To make Zen 4 generation processors more accessible, AMD and its partners have reduced the feature set and significantly reduced the cost while supporting key features of AMD’s Ryzen 7000 series processors. We are preparing the AMD B650 and B650E platforms to reduce. and price.
But don’t expect Zen 4 based machines to be cheap any time soon, even if AMD’s B650/B650E platform launches. The lowest cost of his Ryzen 5 7600X is priced at $299 and DDR5 memory sells for a premium over DDR4 modules and we don’t think the B650/B650E motherboards will be a bargain. But if you want a modern platform, you should probably be ready to pay for it.
