AMD’s RDNA 3 GPUs Gain Vulkan 1.3 Compliancy
AMD’s next-generation graphics cards based on the RDNA 3 architecture have passed conformance testing with Khronos Group’s Vulkan 1.3 application programming interface. Compliance indicates that AMD’s new graphics processor is functional and its driver can pass the compatibility test.
AMD is set to officially unveil its upcoming graphics cards based on the RDNA 3 architecture next week, November 3rd, 2022. With just over a week left until the new GPUs are released, it’s no surprise that the drivers for the Windows 10 and Ubuntu 5.15 Linux kernels are good enough to pass the Vulkan 1.3.3.1 conformance tests. The list currently includes not only private products belonging to the AMD RDNA 3 family of GPUs, but also private products belonging to AMD’s private family of GPUs. We don’t know exactly how many of AMD’s new products are Vulkan 1.3 API compliant, but it’s safe to say that at least two of them can pass his Vulkan 1.3.3.1 compliance test. .
AMD’s codenamed Navi 3x graphics processor is based on the company’s RDNA 3 architecture and is expected to offer a significant performance boost over the existing Radeon RX 6000 series offerings. The top Navi 31 is also expected to use a multi-chiplet design.
According to unofficial sources, AMD will be announcing two high-end RDNA 3 based graphics cards this year – a flagship and a bit below it – with sales set to start in late December. Pricing for the new board is unknown but rumors suggest that AMD may place it higher than his Radeon RX 6900 XT at launch.
