Asus UK Offers Terrible GPU Trade-in ‘Deals’ for RTX 40-Series Sales
Despite criticism of being too expensive, Nvidia’s latest GeForce RTX 40 series offerings are some of the best graphics cards on the market right now. However, Ada Lovelace’s sales seem to be slowing down. Asus UK (opens in new tab) Launched a trade-in program to boost sales.
Asus trade-in offers are no different than regular car or cell phone trade-in programs. In fact, Asus has offered similar programs in the past. If you trade in your old graphics card, the value will be deducted from the price of your new graphics card. But of course, there are times when it’s more financially advantageous to sell your own graphics card than to trade it in, so you’ll need to analyze the behavior of doing so.
The offer runs from February 3rd to March 17th and is available to GeForce and Radeon owners as long as their graphics card is on the list of eligible SKUs. Coverage varies between £50 ($61) and £300 ($363) depending on the age of the graphics card. Asus will accept models as old as the GeForce RTX 1060 or Radeon RX Vega 56 and models as new as the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti or Radeon RX 6650 XT. This promotion is exclusive to UK shoppers and participating retailers Asus UK, AWD-IT, Amazon UK, Box, CCL, Currys, Ebuyer, Novatech, Overclockers UK and Scan.

Asus’ certified product list includes a variety of custom GeForce RTX 4070 Ti and GeForce RTX 4080 models. Cheaper models like the TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 4080 and TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 4070 Ti OC Edition are eligible for trade-in. Asus also included premium products such as the ROG Strix GeForce RTX 4080 OC Edition and ROG Strix GeForce RTX 4070 Ti OC Edition.
Surprisingly, Asus did not include the GeForce RTX 4090 in its trade-in program. This decision means that GeForce RTX 4090 sales have met the company’s projections. On the other hand, lower-end models such as the GeForce RTX 4080 and GeForce RTX 4070 Ti need a bit of a push. However, this is not a shock as the GeForce RTX 4090 has broken into Steam’s hardware survey, while the GeForce RTX 4080 and GeForce RTX 4070 Ti are nowhere to be found.

Asus’ value for some of its recent graphics cards is definitely hard to swallow. I’m here. Trade-in graphics cards are still subject to revision, so owners may not even get the full price Asus is offering. For comparison, a used GeForce RTX 3060 Ti graphics card sells for at least £300 ($362) on eBay UK, so you can definitely add value by selling it yourself. The only reason Moga chooses Asus for trade-in offers is if you don’t want to go through the hassle of selling your graphics card on the used market.
The highest price offered by Asus is £300 ($362) for the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti. Logically speaking, in stores he can only find used GeForce RTX 2080 Ti, since they are no longer sold. However, an eBay UK seller is offloading his GeForce RTX 2080 Ti for under £200 ($241), so this is his one of his Asus offers that looks sound.
