As anyone without unlimited funds can see, a $1,000 price drop can make a big difference in the appeal of a product. For his XE4 gaming laptop with Gigabyte’s Aorus 15 RTX 3070 Ti, at $2,299, On sale at Newegg for just $1,156 (with promo code ZIP11).

We tested a larger 17-inch model in the same laptop line back in February and weren’t entirely happy with it (I gave it 3.5 stars). But at the time, he was $2,450 for a model with the same GPU and CPU as the model currently being sold (with older DDR4 RAM).

I found the speakers to be lacking and the display not very bright. And it wouldn’t be surprising if those shortcomings carried over to the smaller 15-inch model he sells today. Performance is good though, and the 15-inch has the same core components and should perform similarly.

If you’re looking for a powerful gaming laptop without stepping up to something bigger and much more expensive, the Aorus 15 XE4 is hard to catch at $1,156 after Newegg’s ZAP11 promo code.

This sales configuration also includes the Intel Core i5-12450H. I’ve found this to be strong for side productivity work. It also has 8GB of RAM and a 512GB SSD. 1080p displays support a refresh rate of 144 Hz.

I liked the laptop for its modern style, surprisingly decent speakers and, of course, the low price. Consider selling and upgrading RAM and adding storage as needed.
