Camille Pissarro’s Great-Great-Granddaughter Will Teach You Nude Figure Drawing Now

Pizarro didn’t mention his family history during the class, but he did a series of exercises. At one stage, participants meditated to get in touch with their imagination. Another student drew with his left hand and tried to get used to the movements of his drawing hand. “We don’t even write anymore, so this exercise is unfamiliar to us. We need practice,” said the teacher. She equated being good at art with having six her pack.

During the class, two nude models, paid $200 each, posed for varying lengths of time, from 45 seconds to 16 minutes.

One of them, Diana Papanova, 36, a construction project manager from Sutton Place, came out of “retirement” for this particular class. “When I was in my 20s, I modeled to make money. I smoked joints and took naps while standing,” she said with a laugh. She “didn’t want to do it again until I saw Lyora’s class on Instagram.”

Pizarro, who found her model on Instagram, said she was overwhelmed with requests from people wanting to try it out. “They’re all like, ‘I want to experience being nude in front of these people.’ I want to know what it’s like,” she said. “Other than not knowing what to do while teaching a class, one day you’ll want to do it.”

Perhaps because he was taught by his mother (my grandfather was taught by my father), when class was over and everyone was a little tipsy, Mr. Pissarro went into parental mode and everyone hugged him. Up

“Take your painting with you when you go home,” she implored.
