ChatGPT Glasses Bring AI Into Your Real Life
While many people enjoy chatting with OpenAI’s ChatGPT, a Stanford University student discovered a new use for large-scale language models. It’s about interacting with other people in the real world.
Computer Science and Electrical Engineering students Brian Hauping Chen ChatGPT is now portable and interactive thanks to open source Monocle AR Whisper Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) in hardware and OpenAI. Smartphones are now also used within the setup. These combined technologies have been given the catchy name rizzGPT by Chiang (“Rizz” is slang for “charisma”). Chaing has used his real-time guided AI chat assistant at events such as mock job interviews, chance encounters with friends, and choosing the best food at a new restaurant.
and About rizzGPT, shared on Twitter, Chiang describes the system as the beginning of “a new era of ambient computing enabled by AR + AI.” Simply and humorously, rizzGPT can be used during life events like awkward dates and job interviews to provide “real-time charisma as a service (CaaS),” says Stanford University. student says:
Say goodbye to awkward dates and job interviews ☹️We made rizzGPT — Real-time Charisma as a Service (CaaS) listens to your conversations and tells you exactly what to say next 😱 Built using GPT-4, Whisper and Monocle AR glasses @C51Alix @varunshenoy_ pic.twitter.com/HycQGGXT6NMarch 26, 2023
A great example of rizzGPT in action is provided in the embedded tweet above. In the video, an AI-enhanced Mr. Chen answers a series of interview questions using a separate Monocle AR his gadget clipped to the frame of his glasses. Monocle’s built-in display sends him autocues of AI-completed answers directly from ChatGPT.
Another personal interactive situational use of the RizzGPT system is provided in the case of Chiang. bump into friendsThe AI can learn who your friends are and use your photos to train and recognize them. Connected Monocle wearers can invoke relevant conversations based on smartphone messages exchanged with a particular friend. This can easily be deployed on an “awkward date”, allowing the wearer to autopilot a great conversation. You may not be so thrilled to see you wearing glasses that will help you.
Another compelling example of AI agents combined with Monocle AR is in providing menu advice in restaurants. In this Tweeted video As the AI reads Chen’s menu (silently) and takes a verbal quiz, you’ll find that it offers spoken advice based on what it knows about Chen’s food likes, dislikes, and nutritional value. Stanford University students are also leveraging services connected to speech transcription, TTS, and OCR in this real-world AI application.
If you can think of another fun use case for rizzGPT, Chiang says Looking for DMdon’t be shy to send suggestions.
