Compal Veneno Concept Laptop Provides a New Angle on Cooling

Taiwanese IT manufacturer Compal’s new product wins iF Design Award veneno laptop design. The clamshell portable’s dual-hinge design uses the tilt screen we’ve seen before, but the location of the performance components and the new angle to cooling could make it the most interesting.as highlighted by ReliptingThe new Compal reference design places heat-producing performance components on a rear hinged stand for better cooling without blocking airflow from your desk or lap.

Compal is the world’s largest ODM, and PC enthusiasts know it as the maker behind quality products from Dell (XPS, Alienware), HP (Spectre), and Apple. Compal’s designer (perpetually backing his singer, never the star) must be brimming with ideas for his designs for innovative, ultra-elaborate laptops, so crazy about design projects like this. It’s a pleasure to be.

As a concept, I can’t speak to any details or hardware components, but the pictures are enough to provide some ingredients of the Compal Venono’s special sauce. to the back stand of the laptop.

In its iF Design Award blurb, Compal said the redesign “provides an unobstructed thermal advantage for absolute performance, as well as ease of system upgrades and component maintenance. can extend lifespan.” It should also be stressed that laptops can choke on lint and dust from cushions, blankets, etc. Compal Veneno’s design should also avoid this fate. Another feature of the is that it is made from recycled aluminum with sustainability in mind.

Anyone who has updated, upgraded, or repaired a laptop knows the hassle of accessing the cooling, RAM slots, and SSD ports/connectors crammed into the laptop base. With them all in the squat section as part of the stand, the Venono’s repairability and upgradeability scores should be higher. However, the battery is presumed to remain in the base. The system will require one or more heavy components to offset the high density of the stand/screen combination.
