Cooler Master Launches New 120mm Fans That Promise To Reduce Unwanted Vibrations
Cooler Master has announced a new lineup of performance optimized fans. Moebius It comes in a 120mm form factor and comes in both non-RGB and ARGB flavors. Cooler Master has a new architecture called Ring Blade Design that connects all fan blades. This is reported to improve airflow while simultaneously eliminating unwanted vibrations.
The company says fans are available now, but they haven’t made prices available any time soon.
Cooler Master is currently releasing two 120mm variants, a standard version and an ARGB version called Mobius 120 and 120P ARGB. The Mobius 120 features a completely blacked out look with a black shroud and dark fan. The RGB variant features his ARGB lighting with frosted fan blades for better lighting dispersion.
Despite the lighting difference, the ARGB model performs better on paper than the Mobius 120. The ARGB model features a maximum speed of 2400 RPM, a maximum noise level of 30 dBA and a CFM rating of 75.2. The non-ARGB model, on the other hand, has a lower fan speed of 2050RPM and a maximum airflow rating of 63.1 CFM. However, due to the slower fan speed, the noise level is significantly reduced to 22.6 dBA.
Both fans are rated for up to 200,000 hours of use and require a 4-pin PWM output to function. The ARGB variant requires an additional 3-pin ARGB header to be present for lighting functionality.
Mobius series fans are reported to be very stable under load in many different orientations. The fan uses a new ring blade design that connects all fan blades with a ring at the tip. This helps reduce unwanted turbulence that vibrates the rotating blades.
For even greater stability, the Cooler Master also employs the use of dynamic loop bearings. This improves bearing lubricity compared to traditional methods. This improves bearing reliability and improves fan stability. Cooler Master also adds a magnetic ring to the bearing shaft to prevent the fan from tilting in unorthodox directions (such as 45 degree angles).
Combining all these factors, Cooler Master was able to tune the Mobius fan below 6dBA noise level without sacrificing performance. These fans are designed to act as both chassis fans and static fans for CPU coolers, hard drive cooling and radiators.
