Corsair MP600 Pro LPX SSD Review: Another Day, Another Drive
The Corsair MP600 Pro LPX is a forgettable high-end PCIe 4.0 SSD that performs poorly and runs inefficiently. At least it stays cool and is a good fit for the PlayStation 5, but its pricing needs something and it doesn’t make it one of the best PS5 SSDs.Corsair offers software support with a fair warranty However, there are some other SKUs that do what this drive does, but better. There are also many competing products that can match or beat this drive for less. LPX seems like an afterthought after all.

The Corsair MP600 Pro LPX is available in 500GB, 1TB, 2TB and 4TB for $57.99, $84.99, $154.99 and $464.99 at the time of review. The price of the 2TB model is the most attractive. Generally, we recommend at least 1 TB these days, especially for high-end drives, but a 500 GB option would be nice. Corsair guarantees 350 TB, 700 TB, 1,400 TB, and 3,000 TB of each capacity on this drive for up to 5 years.
This drive can reach up to 7,100 / 6,800 MBps for sequential reads and writes and up to 1000K / 1200K IOPS for random reads and writes. These numbers suggest that LPX is based on newer TLC, which is not surprising as the older 96-layer TLC is obsolete at this point.
Corsair MP600 Pro LPX software and accessories
Corsair offers SSD Toolbox software downloads on their site. The application displays information about drives and their status and features secure erase, TRIM, and cloning options. It’s basic, but it gets the job done.
look carefully
The Corsair MP600 Pro LPX comes with a minimal black heatsink which is sufficient to keep the drive cool. The drive was designed to fit the PlayStation 5, so if it looks familiar, it’s probably because it’s practically identical to the Inland Gaming Performance Plus. Good enough, but not perfect. Below the heatsink are four NAND packages, a DRAM package, and a central controller. There are four more NAND packages and his second DRAM package on the back.
The controller is a Phison E18, a very popular high-end PCIe 4.0 SSD controller. The DRAM is labeled H5AN8G6NDJR-XNC, which is 1GB of DDR4, and the two packages mean his 2GB which matches 2TB of flash.
The flash is labeled IA7BG94AYA for Micron’s 176-Layer TLC (B47R). There are 8 packages in total, so each package has 4 64Gb dies (QDP), 256GiB per package.
