Darkest Dungeon 2 Will Exit Early Access With Its Version 1.0 Release in May 2023

After initially releasing in Early Access in October 2021, Darkest Dungeon 2 will officially release version 1.0 on Steam and the Epic Games Store on May 8, 2023. .

The Darkest Dungeon 2 Early Access review states, “There are enough new and interesting ideas over and above the original retread, but it keeps the torch on the original by improving it.”

Unlike the original, which had a campaign that took 100 hours and featured dozens of heroes, the sequel featured a small group of heroes that you could actually get to know, a campaign that took 5-6 hours, and a much longer experience. A little more focused. hours to complete.

Along with being replayable, a large part of Darkest Dungeon 2 is managing hero relationships, where positive or negative emotions can trigger major buffs or terrible debuffs. Stress also returns in the sequel, but this time it affects groups more than individuals.

As for the demo, available today on Steam and the Epic Games Store, players can take four starting heroes to one region (Sprawl (city) or Foetor (farm)). Progression won’t be saved, but it’s a good look at what fans can expect in the full release. The full release will include “a metagame hub with 12 playable heroes, 5 full regions, 5 end bosses, and extensive permanent upgrades.”
