DCG’s CoinDesk receives buyout interest; exploring partial or full sale

Cryptocurrency news firm Coindesk is looking for a buyer through an investment banker. wall street journal report January 18th.

Coindesk CEO Kevin Worth told the WSJ that his company “has received many inbound signals of interest” in recent months.

Worth did not disclose which companies would be interested in acquiring CoinDesk. However, he said CoinDesk is exploring potential deals with financial management firm Lazard.

The CEO told the WSJ that Coindesk may pursue a full or partial sale, and DCG may not lose full ownership of the company.

Last November, Semaphore report Multiple buyers, including investment firms and rival news sites, were interested in buying CoinDesk for over $300 million.

Coindesk is now owned by Digital Currency Group (DCG), which acquired the company for $500,000 to $600,000 in 2016. Digital Currency Group also owns troubled cryptocurrency company Genesis and other subsidiaries.
