Diablo 4 Will Ditch Lootboxes for Battle Passes, Like Overwatch Before It

Blizzard has revealed that Diablo IV will not include loot boxes, instead offering battle passes and cosmetics through the in-game store.

announced soon development update, Blizzard has confirmed that Diablo IV will be a full-price game. Players can spend money as they wish, but they cannot “pay for electricity”.

Post-launch content will instead be structured around seasons that rotate every three months, with each new season feeling like a fresh start for players. The Season Journey model for Diablo III is back. It’s a free progression system that allows players to earn rewards by completing challenges, and Blizzard also offers his pass for the more traditional Seasonal Battles.

Branded as the Season Pass (despite what Blizzard calls “Battle Pass-style progression”), this progression system allows players to utilize a “free tier and a premium tier” to earn cosmetics and premium currency. You can earn it. Blizzard does not disclose the price of the season pass or the number of tiers you can purchase.

The in-game shop offers a variety of customization items, but “good-looking cosmetics aren’t just for the shop,” Update said. Diablo IV’s fanciest armor will be an item he drops that players can earn by playing the game rather than simply purchasing it. Again, Blizzard clarified that “nothing offered in the shop will confer any direct or indirect gameplay advantage.”

This message may appear following the controversy surrounding Diablo. Immortal is a free-to-play mobile game that offers the best loot only to players who spend a lot of money. Blizzard went in the opposite direction with Diablo IV, but recently announced that they’re doing away with loot boxes in favor of the Battle Pass and Store, just like they did with Overwatch.
