Disney Lorcana: The First Chapter Release Date and Starter Decks Announced
No card game has captured the interest of players and collectors quite like Ravensburger’s upcoming Disney card game, Disney Lorcana. Now, Ravensburger has announced that the card game will be released this year starting his August 2023.
IGN has exclusively learned that Disney Lorcana will be released in the US, Canada, UK, France and Germany starting this August with Disney Lorcana: The First Chapter.
In the US, Disney Lorcana: The First Chapter will be released in your local game store on August 18th, and will hit mass retailers on September 1st. This year’s Gen Con 2023 attendees will receive select Disney Lorcana: The First Chapter products.
“Players and community are the most important elements of TCG,” says Ryan Miller, co-designer of Disney Lorcana. “We partner with hobby stores and game stores to host organized play programs to help bring people together to learn, play, trade and welcome new players to our games.”

At launch, over 200 game cards will be available in a variety of products, including starter decks, booster packs, gift sets, and Illuminator’s Trove.
There are three different starter decks available at launch, each with a specific list of 60 cards in two of six “inks” including Amber and Amethyst, Emerald and Ruby, or Steel and Sapphire. Think of them as different colors in a game like Magic: The Gathering. The starter deck also includes 1 booster pack with 12 randomized cards of him, 1 foil card, and 2 cars of Rare, Super Rare, or Legendary rarity.
Illumneer’s Trove will be the largest collectible set at launch, including 8 booster packs, 2 deck boxes, a player’s guide, and themed storage boxes. Gift set includes Mulan and Hades, 2 oversized foil cards, 2 foil game cards, 4 booster packs, and game tokens.
“We have put together a strong line of fun and exciting products for the first set of Disney Lorcana. Change the gameplay and style of the color of the ink, or hook up Illuminar’s Trove and experience as much of the game as possible,” says Miller. “We also want to show that we are serious and that we are here to stay.”
At launch, Disney Lorcana: The First Chapter will be available in English, French, or German, with plans to release four sets per year.
