Fans Have Revealed What Their Own Final Fantasy IX Remake Looks Like

Three years later, a group of extremely dedicated Final Fantasy IX fans shared hands-on gameplay demos and gave their own take on what a remake of the game could look like.

Here are the latest updates from the project: 25 minute video Full gameplay demo. Unfortunately, though, this is the furthest out of this remake that you’ll probably never be able to play. Because the group behind the project has said in the past that they have no intention of releasing this to the public without consent from Square. Enix. They write on their website:

“MEMORIA PROJECT IS A PROOF OF CONCEPT AND IS NOT INTENDED TO BE CONSIDERED A PLAYABLE PRODUCT. WE DO NOT INFRINGE SQUARE ENIX’S COPYRIGHT IN ANY WAY.”

Still, at least in the demo, you can appreciate the gorgeous, high-fidelity graphics.

FINAL FANTASY IX: MEMORIA PROJECT STARTS IN 2021. The goal of this passion-filled project was to “create a complete remake of the opening Alexandria part of the game as a proof of concept.” This team is made up of over 50 of his artists, developers, fans and enthusiasts who have enjoyed his ninth major work in The Final Fantasy series.

official website FAQ page points out that it also has “high-profile corporate experts” from several AAA studios, including Riot Games and Sucker Punch Productions.
