Final Fantasy 16 Has Gone Gold

Final Fantasy 16 development is now complete as developer Square Enix announced that the game has gone Gold.

Square Enix, shared in a tweet (below) on Final Fantasy 16’s Twitter account, completed development ahead of the game’s June 22nd release date.

“Final Fantasy 16 is now gold,” he said simply.

Fans had 14 reasons to hope for a sequel, and in September 2020, Final Fantasy 16 was officially announced as the next mainline game in the RPG franchise.

Square Enix has since provided incremental updates on development, even saying the game has completed basic development a month after its announcement. Producer Naoki Yoshida said it was in the “final stages” of development in April 2022, and many believed Final Fantasy 16 would launch towards the end of that year.

Of course, that didn’t happen, but June isn’t too far away for those looking forward to the game. But Sony only has a six-month exclusivity.
