Fortnite CCO Knows ‘Exactly’ How He’d Make Movie Adaptation, But Don’t Expect One Anytime Soon

It seems like every video game franchise has been turned into a movie these days, but one of the most popular is Fortnite, according to Epic Games Chief Creative Officer Donald Mustard.

in an interview with ColliderMustard said the company is “not actively working” on a Fortnite movie at this time, but explained that future adaptations are still a possibility.

“For me, I always want to create things that feel authentic and that are great stories. I’m not saying it’ll never happen actually I know exactly what to do with Fortnite exactly I know exactly what I want to talk about but right now that’s not the focus time there is not.”

Mustard then added that Epic Games has a relationship with production company AGBO through investment, suggesting that an adaptation could happen via that relationship at some point. Given Knight’s success, he said he wouldn’t have to work too hard to get one go-ahead. There are just other things that are.”

The popularity of video game adaptations has recently reached a feverish pitch thanks to the Super Mario Bros. movies. Other movies like Sonic the Hedgehog have scored successful sequels, several gaming IPs, and Pokemon, Street Fighter, Minecraft, Cards and much more. It feels like it’s only a matter of time before the ever-popular Fortnite Cave hits theaters.
