Gainward Reportedly Replaces RTX 4090’s 12VHPWR Adapters

Gainward is reportedly delaying the shipment of GeForce RTX 4090 graphics cards in Australia. This is to replace his 12VHPWR adapter from Nvidia as it has been found to melt, overheat and catch fire. Gainward is the only graphics card manufacturer that we know of to do this, but we wouldn’t be surprised if others followed suit.

“As you can see, some customers have reported problems with the first batch. [GeForce RTX] On 4090 cards, these adapters show symptoms of overheating/melting under certain circumstances,” Australian retailer TechFast wrote to a client who republished the message. reddit (via video cards). “The investigation is still ongoing and Nvidia has yet to issue an official statement, but Gainward has said that the cable that ships with the card will be replaced. As a result, this will be done. We are holding off shipping all cards until then.”
