GeForce RTX 4060 Ti Retailer-Listed Specs Look Worse Than RTX 3060 Ti
Nvidia’s upcoming GeForce RTX 4060 Ti aims to be one of the best graphics cards out there. However, for the latest listings from Russian distributors marvel (opens in new tab) (via momomo_us (opens in new tab)) and the rumors are accurate, the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti specs don’t look underwhelming on paper compared to the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti. However, the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti uses his Nvidia’s latest Ada Lovelace architecture, so it’s definitely a performance boost, but how much does it matter?
The GeForce RTX 4060 Ti is rumored to feature 4,352 CUDA cores, which is 11% fewer than the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti. That’s because much of the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti’s performance boost comes from its new architecture. Therefore, the Geforce RTX 4060 Ti also has fewer Tensor Cores and RT Cores. However, the Ada-based graphics card uses the latest 4th Gen Tensor Cores and 3rd Gen RT Cores, offering better AI and ray tracing performance than the previous generation GeForce RTX 3060 Ti.
According to early speculation, the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti could debut with a base clock of 2,310 MHz and a boost clock of 2,535 MHz. Some premium and overclocked models are said to boost up to 2,685 MHz. Unfortunately, FP32 performance is a terrible metric for measuring gaming performance. However, for the sake of argument, the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti delivers 22.06 TFLOPs, a 36% higher FP32 performance than the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti. While the numbers are impressive, be aware that FP32 performance doesn’t translate to actual game performance.

Russian distributor Marvel has listed four custom Palit GeForce RTX 4060 Ti graphics cards with 8 GB of GDDR6 memory running through a 128-bit memory interface. The specs match other retailer’s listing of his GeForce RTX 4060 Ti as well as the original leak. However, the memory configuration certainly leaves us wondering what Nvidia is doing with his GeForce RTX 4060 Ti.
The GeForce RTX 3060 Ti has a 256-bit memory interface. Even the GeForce RTX 3060 has a 192-bit bus. A 128-bit bus with 8 GB of GDDR6 memory is the kind of setup you’ll find in the GeForce RTX 3060 8 GB or GeForce RTX 3050. Not a combination typically seen in Ti tier SKUs.
The GeForce RTX 4060 Ti is reported to use 18 Gb/s of memory, but even faster memory won’t help Ada graphics cards hammer out more memory bandwidth. The GeForce RTX 4060 Ti is capped by a 128-bit memory interface and offers 288 GB/s. That’s 36% lower than the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti with its 14 Gb/s chip and 256-bit memory interface. Nonetheless, the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti’s gigantic L2 cache (32MB) helps mitigate memory bandwidth drops, similar to AMD’s Infinity Cache.

The GeForce RTX 4060 Ti may already be around the corner. According to the latest rumors, Nvidia will start shipping his GeForce RTX 4060 Ti graphics card to the channel on May 5th. This explains why we see more listings from retailers around the world.
No official release date has been set yet, but it looks like Nvidia wants to launch the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti by the end of May. Despite all the leaks and retailer listings, the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti price remains unknown. So far, the GeForce RTX 40 series graphics cards have launched at premium prices. Looking at previous offerings such as the GeForce RTX 4090 ($1,599), GeForce RTX 4080 ($1,199), GeForce RTX 4070 Ti ($799) and GeForce RTX 4070 ($599), the upward price trend is clear. So it would be foolish to think that the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti will debut at his $399 MSRP of his GeForce RTX 3060 Ti. I’m not saying it won’t happen, but it’s unlikely.
