GeForce RTX 4090 Arrives at Best Buy Site at MSRP
Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 4090, which could soon become one of the best graphics cards out there on October 12th. Launch approaching.
Unlike Ampere, which launched at an insane price during dark times, the GeForce RTX 4090 appears to maintain an MSRP of $1,599. The GeForce RTX 4090 still has a small price tag but as we’ve grown accustomed to seeing Ampere at scalper prices it’s encouraging to finally see the latest graphics card debut at his MSRP Best Bye (via momomo_us (opens in new tab)) listed four custom GeForce RTX 4090 graphics cards with price tags ranging from $1,599 to $1,749. Nonetheless, we recommend approaching pricing carefully, as listings can be placeholders.
MSI GeForce RTX 4090 Suprim Liquid X 24G retails for $1,749 (opens in new tab) The slimmest of the four graphics cards. However, unlike other triple-slot monsters, this model only occupies his two PCI slots. The reason is that the graphics card has a hybrid cooling system, outsourcing some of its thermal responsibility to his 240 mm radiator outside.
Gigabyte’s GeForce RTX 4090 Gaming OC 24G Checks In For $1,699 (opens in new tab) With thick 3x WindForce cooler. The cooling setup revolves around a vapor chamber with 10 composite Cooper heat pipes and his three 110 mm cooling fans. Gigabyte hasn’t revealed the clock speeds, but the model name hints that it comes with massive factory overclocks to justify the $100 premium for the price tag.
graphics card | price | SKUs |
---|---|---|
MSI GeForce RTX 4090 Suprim Liquid X 24G | $1,799.99 | 6522334 |
Gigabyte GeForce RTX 4090 Gaming OC 24G | $1,699.99 | GV-N4090 Gaming OC-24GD |
MSI GeForce RTX 4090 Gaming X Trio 24G | $1,599.99 | 6522371 |
Gigabyte GeForce RTX 4090 WindForce 24G | $1,599.99 | GV-N4090WF3-24GD |
On the other hand, the Gigabyte GeForce RTX 4090 WindForce 24G (opens in new tab) and MSI GeForce RTX 4090 Gaming X Trio 24G (opens in new tab) Stick to Nvidia’s MSRP. Both graphics cards rely on robust coolers with triple-fan configurations. Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 4090 Founders Edition will also retail for $1,599 for fans of the reference design.
What MSI and Gigabyte have in common is that neither vendor has announced clock speeds for their respective GeForce RTX 4090 graphics cards. Additionally, regardless of model, custom graphics cards come with one 16-pin PCIe power connector (12VHPWR). Rated at 450W, the GeForce RTX 4090 draws a ton of power that a 12VHPWR connector can provide. MSI and Gigabyte recommend a minimum 850W power supply, though the latter recommends 1,000W units for their overclocking models.
The GeForce RTX 4090 isn’t the only graphics card to hit the retail market on October 12th. Believe it or not, Intel will launch the highly anticipated Arc A770 on the same day for $329. Arc Alchemist is no match for the GeForce RTX 40 series, at least not the GeForce RTX 4090. However, if you trust Intel’s benchmarks, the Arc A770 behaves like his GeForce RTX 3060, so it’s a completely different market segment.
