Sony Pictures VR has officially announced the official title and release window for its upcoming Ghostbusters VR game.
Ghostbusters: Rise of the Ghost Lord is set to launch in 2023 for Meta Quest 2 and PlayStation VR2. The game was first announced at Meta’s Gaming Showcase in April as a surprise announcement to close out the show.
Set in San Francisco, players run their own ghostbuster business. Press As stated in his release, players can travel solo or with up to three friends to “stop his lord of the mighty ghosts and bands of malevolent ghosts from wreaking havoc” through San Francisco. have the opportunity to play with
Sony Pictures VR has confirmed to IGN that the upcoming Ghostbusters game will not be a direct sequel to the 2021 movie Ghostbusters: Afterlife. Instead, the publisher explained that it was “really important” for the game’s developers, nDreams, to “move forward and create a whole story.”
No firm information has been announced other than a 2023 release window, but the game will be released in the same year that Sony’s second-generation VR headset, the PlayStation VR2, will be released.
In August, Sony confirmed that it would launch the PSVR2 in early 2023. Meta Quest 2 looks dated, but we know the newly announced (and expensive) Quest Pro was announced a few weeks ago. Designed with a focus on work and productivity is compatible with the Meta Quest 2 library.
Meta has also confirmed that a Quest 3 for gamers will be released next year, which could also include backward compatibility for Quest 2 games.
