Gigabyte Aorus Gen5 10000 2TB SSD Priced, Available to Preorder
The upcoming launch of Gigabyte’s Aorus Gen5 10000 SSD is evident with the popular online retailer listing the flagship model on its website. Amazon (opens in new tab) and Newegg currently list the Aorus Gen5 10000 2TB, while Amazon’s listing shows the SSD as “temporarily out of stock”. However, Newegg lists the Aorus Gen5 10000 2TB as available for backorder. Priced at $339.99 (opens in new tab).
If you recall, Gigabyte’s previous generation Aorus Gen4 7000s Prem also launched for $339.99, but you can get it for $281.99. Amazon (opens in new tab) and new egg (opens in new tab)That’s about a $60 premium for the newer Gen5 models, but a significant performance boost. The Aorus Gen4 7000s Prem delivers a maximum sequential read of 7,000 MBps, while sequential writes reach his 6,850 MBps.
Meanwhile, the new Aorus Gen5 10000 2TB cranks sequential reads and writes to 10,000 MBps and 9,500 MBps respectively. Also, while the previous generation had 2GB of DDR4 cache, the new Gen5 doubles that number with 4GB of LPDDR4 cache.

PCIe 5.0 unlocks another level of performance for SSDs, and Gigabyte also includes a powerful M.2 Thermal Guard Xtreme dual heatpipe cooling solution. Gigabyte claims this cooling solution stabilizes thermal performance and helps prevent the SSD from throttling prematurely under load.
Unfortunately, there is still no concrete release date from Gigabyte for the Aorus Gen5 10000 2TB (or its cheaper 1TB sibling). But the drive is likely to arrive sometime this year, and given that Newegg has already posted prices and allowed customers to pre-order, hopefully it will arrive sooner or later.
