Gigabyte App Allegedly Confirms Nvidia RTX 4070 and RTX 4060 Memory Configs

Gigabyte has apparently revealed the memory configurations of Nvidia’s upcoming GeForce RTX 4060 and GeForce RTX 4070 graphics cards via its Gigabyte Control Center software. The Ada Lovelace-based add-in boards will have 8GB and 12GB of memory respectively. video cards.

Version 23.03.02.01 Gigabyte’s Control Center app adds support for Gigabyte RTX 4070 Aero OC 12GB (GV-N4070AERO OC-12G) and Gigabyte RTX 4060 Gaming OC 8GB (GV-N4060GAMING OC-8GD) products, and their memory reveal capacity. The memory type (GDDR6X or GDDR6) has not yet been confirmed, but rumors say the 4070 is his GDDR6X and the 4060 is his regular GDDR6.

We were already pretty sure that Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 4070 would feature the same 192-bit 12GB GDDR6X memory subsystem as the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti. This is because the two products are based on the same AD104 GPU. The main difference is that the 4070 has less active CUDA cores on him. Will the GeForce RTX 4070 make our list of the best graphics cards? Here are the provisional specs.

In many ways, Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 4060’s 8GB of GDDR6 memory can be seen as a downgrade from the GeForce RTX 3060, which has 12GB of GDDR6 memory. Nvidia’s AD107 and AD106 graphics processors, which are found in the company’s GeForce RTX 4060 and RTX 4060 Ti products, only feature 128-bit memory interfaces (according to unofficial sources), making these GPUs either 8GB or 16GB. memory. — Also, the latter option may not be exactly viable for cost reasons, as it requires using memory in “clamshell” mode (similar to the RTX 3090) on both sides of the PCB.

Nvidia plans to launch the GeForce RTX 4070 with 12GB of memory on April 13th, 2023. The product sits below his GeForce RTX 4070 Ti, which has been on the market for several months now, but it’s unclear how much Nvidia will offer. plans to charge his GeForce RTX 4070 standard. Given the specs, the performance is considerably lower than the 4070 Ti. It suggests that the price would need to be under $650 to make sense, and even that is likely too high.

The plans for the RTX 4060 and 4060 Ti are even less clear. Last week we saw images of what is purported to be the GeForce RTX 4060 Founders Edition board. This could be taken as confirmation that Nvidia is working on this product. Still, we don’t yet know when the GeForce RTX 4060 will launch and at what price. Considering the outgoing 3060 and 3060 Ti are priced at $329 and $399 respectively, we can imagine $499 being the top price most potential buyers would be happy to consider.
