Gordon Moore, Intel Co-Founder and Creator of Moore’s Law, Dies at Age 94

Intel and the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation announced that Intel co-founder Gordon Moore passed away peacefully this evening surrounded by his family in Hawaii.Moore co-founded Intel with his longtime friend Robert Noyce in 1968, but is best known as the originator of Moore’s Law. First written in 1965, Moore’s Law stated that the number of transistors on an integrated circuit would double every year. This law served as a goal to help move the semiconductor industry forward. In 1975, Moore modified this law to predict that the number of transistors would double his number every two years.
