GPU Prices Fall After Nvidia Announcement, Ethereum Merge
GPU prices are trending downward, especially when short-term sales are on the horizon. Just one week after Ethereum successfully completed The Merge, and in the midst of the launch announcement of the Nvidia RTX 40 series, graphics cards no longer hold their former value. If you’re looking for his one of the best graphics cards, here are the current prices for the latest and previous generation models.
Start with the latest generation GPUs. All of these are still available at retail stores. It also includes a handful of previous-generation Nvidia Turing cards, mostly from the GTX 16 series, but also from the RTX 2060. Previous pricing data is from just before the Ethereum merge.
Overall retail prices have fallen an average of 3.5% since last week, but this masks some of the big changes. The RTX 3090 Ti remained stable, but the RTX 3090 dropped 11% as did his RTX 3060 Ti. Even better, AMD’s RX 6750 XT, RX 6700 XT and RX 6700 10GB all showed double-digit percentage drops. MSI RX 6700 XT Mech 2X (opens in new tab) When ASRock RX 6700 XT Challenger D (opens in new tab) Both are currently $359.99.
The price might seem good at first glance considering you’re looking somewhere between RTX 3060 Ti and RTX 3070 levels of performance, but you get an extra 12GB of VRAM.of Sapphire RX 6600 Pulse (opens in new tab) Get it for just $229.99.is the same price as EVGA RTX 2060 6GB (opens in new tab)you don’t get DLSS support, but you do get more VRAM and typically a 20% performance boost for traditional rasterized games.
However, not all GPUs have gotten cheaper in the past week. The RX 6950 XT was previously sold, but is now discontinued with a $40 higher price tag. The RX 6500 XT and RX 6400 have also gone up in price, which is strange because anyone thinking that the RX 6600 will perform more than twice as much as him should not buy it. Several other GPUs have seen flat prices as well, which isn’t too surprising considering we’ve only seen them in the past week.
What about previous-generation GPUs? For these, I’m only looking at eBay prices where you’ll have to buy a lot of cards. Sure, some Turing GPUs (2060 and 1660/1650 models) are still available at retail stores, but they tend to be significantly more expensive.
Prices have fallen by an average of 4.3%, but there are several GPUs that saw a slight price increase, including the RTX 2080 Ti, GTX 1650, RX 5700 and RX 5500 XT 8GB. The RTX 2060 dropped 11% while the RX 5500 XT 4GB dropped 25%. Please note that only 4 RX 5500 XT 4GB cards are sold.
As we mentioned in our RX 6500 XT review, it’s actually slower than the previous generation RX 5500 XT in most games. Sure, ray tracing hardware is available, but not enough to really matter. If you want a cheap GPU right now, for less than $100 (used) he RX 5500 XT isn’t a bad idea either. Additionally, 4GB cards were not very suitable for mining purposes. This means that the odds of getting a card that has been abused in the last two years are slim.
Another interesting tidbit is that the AMD RX 5700 XT currently has the best value among all GPUs.At least if you’re willing to take the risk and buy a used graphics card. teeth It is especially dangerous if it ends up being blown away by high-pressure water. As always, warn buyers and look for established sellers with return policies.
If you’re in a rush to find a graphics card for your new PC game build, or just to replace something that’s on the last leg, I hope this solves your problem. Otherwise, while we wait for the GeForce RTX 40-series GPUs and Radeon RX 7000-series GPUs, continue to do so as we will only see prices drop further for most of these GPUs in the next month or two. We recommend waiting.
