Gran Turismo 4 Cheat Codes Discovered Nearly 20 Years After Release

Cheat codes for Gran Turismo 4, released for PlayStation 2 in 2005, have been discovered.

These cheat codes were discovered by Twitter user Nenkaai, though it’s unclear how they were discovered in the first place. These newly discovered chat codes benefit players when the corresponding buttons are entered into the game. However, they can only be used after 365 in-game days in Gran Turismo 4.

  • Earn 10,000,000 credits on the GT Mode screen: Select, Left, Right, Right, Down, Up, Up, Left, Down, Up, Right, Left, Down, L1, R1, Select
  • Pass any license on the license selection screen: Select, R1, Select, R1, Select, L2, L2, R2, R2, L1, Select, L1, Select
  • Earn a Gold rating on a specific license test on the license test selection screen: Select, Select, R1, R2, L2, L2, Select, L1, R1, Select, R2, L1, Select
  • Earn a Gold rating on any event on the event course selection screen: Selected, L1, Up, Up, Selected, R1, Down, Down, Selected, L2, Selected, R2, Selected

Additionally, you’ll unlock prizes for earning a Gold rating in the event, and skip the 24-hour race. This code appears to work in his 2006 motorcycle game, Tourist Trophy, which uses the same game engine as Gran Turismo 4.

The franchise is one of the most influential games in the racing genre, so it’s very rare to find something new in a game this old. The latest entry, Gran Turismo 7, released last year for PS4 and PS5, as well as his PS VR2 via a free in-game update.

IGN’s Gran Turismo 4 review said, “GT4 is the biggest GT3 idea possible on the PS2. There’s no doubt that this game completely wrecks everything else in terms of graphics, sound effects and force feedback.” License exams, circuits, missions, hundreds of cars and dozens of tracks all come together in one addictive racing game.”
