Hoskinson: Cardano has a ‘beautiful plan’ for ZK-rollups

Input Output CEO Charles Hoskinson hinted at the rollout of ZK rollup in Cardano.

inside sweetHoskinson was asked why there hasn’t been “a lot of buzz” about the ZK rollup on the Cardano blockchain.

In response, he said that scaling techniques are relevant and incorporated midnight side chain. More on that later, Hoskinson said.

What is ZK Rollup?

ZK Rollup refers to the technique of taking hundreds of transactions from the main chain, validating each one using zero-knowledge proofs, and batching them into one transaction. ).

zero knowledge An authentication method that allows the sender to prove that something is right without sending passwords, keys, or other sensitive information to the recipient.

The process of batching transactions offloads the computational load on the main chain and increases speed due to the zero-knowledge aspect that provides verification.

ZK rollups are usually associated with Ethereum. Ethereum relies heavily on Layer 2 scaling solutions to reduce base layer congestion and provide other benefits such as higher throughput, better security, and privacy features.

Coming soon to Cardano Midnight

Regarding the Cardano ZK Rollup, Hoskinson said:

“It has huge, great, beautiful plans, and it has a lot to do with Midnight. We’ll talk about that later.”

Midnight is a privacy-focused Cardano sidechain that allows developers to build “data protection-first dApps” without fear of data breaches or censorship.

“[It] Protect sensitive commercial and personal data, and protect fundamental freedoms of association, commerce, and expression for developers, businesses, and individuals. ”

Hoskinson didn’t elaborate on how the ZK rollup will be used, but his mention of Midnight suggests it’s not about scaling, but about the ability to securely authenticate personal data. increase.
