How To Enable DLSS 3 Frame Generation in Windows 10
I recently bought the Nvidia RTX 4070 Founders Edition and upgraded from the RTX 3060 Ti Founders Edition which was great for 1080p gaming, but started creaking at 1440p. I had to lower my settings to play Cyberpunk 2077, The Ascent, and even Forza Horizon 5.
The Nvidia RTX 4070 seemed like the best GPU for me. This is a mid-range card that works well with an AMD Ryzen 5 5600X CPU and 32GB DDR4 RAM. Installation was easy, drivers were updated and Cyberpunk 2077 launched.[設定]>>[グラフィックス]and expected it to be ready for frame generation, but it was greyed out.
I’m running Windows 10 22H2 and unknowingly hardware accelerated GPU scheduling was not enabled. It’s enabled by default in Windows 11, but perhaps another way to encourage users to upgrade?
What is Optical Multiframe Generation?
Optical multi-frame generation was introduced with DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling), which uses AI to generate frames, analyzes “two consecutive in-game images”, and generates an image of the objects and elements displayed in the frames. Compute motion vector data. Frames are fed to the neural. Integrate the network with the engine and optical flow motion vectors to produce a DLSS-generated combination. DLSS 3 is said to improve frame rates by up to 4x compared to non-DLSS methods.
In our non-scientific tests (GPU editor Jarred Walton provided all the detailed technical data on the RTX 4070), frame generation improved from 45 fps to 75 fps. This is an impressive improvement considering the build’s midrange specs.
Update drivers and games
Before starting the process, make sure you’re running the latest drivers for your Nvidia RTX 40 series card and your game is updated. For testing, we used Cyberpunk 2077, which recently had an update to Ray Tracing his Overdrive, and set this as our target.
How to enable GPU scheduling with hardware acceleration
Introduced in the Windows 10 May 2020 Update, hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling allows Windows to offload most of the GPU scheduling tasks to a dedicated GPU-based scheduling processor. Windows 10 requires this feature to be enabled. Windows 11 automatically enables hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling.
1. Go to the graphics settings menu. You can get there by searching for “graphics” in Windows and clicking “graphics settings”.
2. Toggle on GPU scheduling with hardware acceleration.
3. reboot your computer.
Using DLSS 3.0 Frame Generation
1. In the game, Go to graphics menu in settings.
2. Click “Generate DLSS Frame”..
3. start the game.
Enjoy smoother gameplay.
