Intel Meteor Lake Leak Points to Windows 12 Support
In July 2022, it was reported that Microsoft is moving its Windows desktop operating system to a three-year development cycle. Windows 10 was released to the public in the summer of 2015, but its successor, Windows 11, was released six years after him. Given Microsoft’s tight timeline, Windows 12 should arrive in 2024.
Intel leaker @leaf_hobby tweeted over the weekend that Windows 12 was listed as a supported operating system for Intel’s upcoming 14th Gen Meteor Lake-S desktop processors. @leaf_hobby later deleted the tweet, Google Cache shows everythingwhich is why I’ve included it below.
Note that Microsoft has not confirmed a release date for Windows 12 (or confirmed that it is the next-generation operating system) and likely won’t do so anytime soon. But of course, the company also refuses to comment on leaks like this, and Intel is similarly tight-lipped about future support for unreleased products of one of his biggest partners. there is
In other words, we need to think broadly about this information. However, the timing is aligned with Meter Lake-S support in Windows 12. Windows 12 should be released in his second half of 2024 if Microsoft really moves to his three-year cycle. The first Meteor Lake processors are expected to be released later. 2023.
By the time Windows 12 is released, Intel’s 15th Gen Arrow Lake processors are gearing up for a late 2024 or possibly early 2025 release.
Windows 12, aka Next Valley, is expected to leverage the dedicated Artificial Intelligence (AI) engine introduced in AMD’s Ryzen 7000 family. Intel also plans to implement similar hardware in future Meteor Lake and Arrow Lake processors. Microsoft is taking a small step in AI now with Windows 11, but the company is touting AI as the “next big thing.” Microsoft leverages AI in Windows Studio Effects and, to a limited extent, the Windows Search Box.
As for Meteor Lake, this latest leak claims the processor will support 20 PCIe 5.0 lanes (16 lanes for GPU and 4 lanes for storage) and the new flagship Intel Z890 chipset with Wi-Fi 7 connectivity. I claim to. The Meteor Lake family will feature a chiplet design and will reportedly use Intel 4 process technology (7 nanometers) for its computer tiles. Meteor Lake’s GPU tiles are expected to use TSMC’s 3-nanometer or 5-nanometer nodes.
