Intel Quietly Raises Pricing for 12th-Gen Alder Lake CPUs, Now More Expensive Than 13th-Gen
Intel has increased prices for its 12th Generation Alder Lake processors in its online Ark product database, reflecting a 10% increase in prices for the company’s previous generation desktop PC chips. In some cases, tip prices can be up to $60 higher.
For now, the company’s new 13th Gen Raptor Lake processors feature more cores and significantly faster performance, and are actually cheaper than their predecessors. , and perhaps AMD can take an edge in the pricing department.
Intel has announced that it will increase the price of its chips in the first quarter of 2022, but did not share details. The company repeated this message in its June earnings call after losing his $500 million in the second quarter of 2022. He had one of the worst quarters in the company’s history. I was. However, Intel did not disclose which products will be raised in price, or by how much.

It turns out that Intel’s client CPUs are not to be spared, we’ve noticed some major Alder Lake SKU price changes in the Ark database, but Intel has yet to officially announce a price increase. Hmm.
Intel uses a price range of $10 for its processors (e.g. $589 to $599), but the lower numbers are used in the table above for simplicity. Intel has bumped Alder Lake desktop CPUs by 10% across the range from Core i3 to Core i9 models. For the top-end Core i9-12900K, we see an increase of $59.
We also see similar price increases for the graphics-less F-series models, which are usually offered at discounted prices, and the 65W and 35W ‘non-K’ models, which sell for even lower prices.
In a twist, it means that the previous generation Alder Lake models are more expensive than the current generation Raptor Lake chips. However, the latter comes with more cores, is significantly faster, and tops both the list of best CPUs for gaming and the CPU benchmark tier, so prices for these chips are also coming in the next few days. expected to rise.
Intel’s Raptor Lake currently enjoys a performance lead and a significant price/performance advantage over AMD’s competing Ryzen 7000 processors. However, Intel’s price hike could change the pecking order, especially in the lower end of the spectrum like Core i3 and Core i5.
We have contacted Intel for more information and will update as necessary.
