Jack Black’s Infectious Video Game Song Features God of War, Red Dead Redemption 2 and Yes, Mario

Jack Black has made another catchy tune – and this time it’s a love letter to video games.

Following the song “Peaches” from the Super Mario Bros. Movie, his band Tenacious D released “Video Games,” which also came with a music video and included more game references than I could count on my hands. I’m here. You can watch the entire video here.

The song opens with an animated version of Jack Black singing about not playing video games while bandmate Kyle Gass plays guitar (we all know that’s not true). As the video progresses, Black begins repeating the names of video games he’s played… while Gus is killed by various video game creatures and characters.

Throughout the song he mentions: god of war, fallout 4Sonic the hedgehog, red dead redemption 2The Legend of Zelda, Street Fighter, Mine CraftTomb Raider, Team Fortress 2, Mega Man, Super Mario Bros.

This is just the latest combination of music and games by Black. last month, “Peaches” made the Billboard Hot 100 list. The song entered the chart at number 83, making it the first song of his solo career to chart. Before that, he last appeared on the Billboard Hot 100 list in 2006, when Tenacious D “Pick of Destiny”.
