JuiShark ‘M.2 Four’ SSD Cooler is Taller Than a Low-Profile GPU
China’s JuiShark has launched another bold M.2 SSD cooler. The latest model called M.2 Fouris the logical successor to last year’s M.2 Three. Amazingly, the bold company has scaled back the design a bit with this latest generation. Plus, to make up for the physical shrinkage, the M.2 Four is bolder than ever, with a choice of three colors and aRGB fans.
Perhaps the JuiShark M.2 Four is a bit more compact by adopting a design that matches the moderate M.2 heat load. Last year’s model looked like half a tower CPU cooler, but the M.2 Four’s design has a custom heatsink that fits snugly into his 2280-sized tray and has a fully embedded aRGB fan It has become a little more sophisticated, such as within the fin structure.
JuiShark says the radiator material is aluminum alloy and the bolt-on M.2 receptacle is made of stainless steel. According to the Chinese component maker, this combination vaguely means “the heat dissipation effect is stronger”. The recessed fan is his 5015 aRGB fan with a 4-pin PWM connector. Given the name, image, and overall dimensions, I’d say it’s a 50mm fan.
Technical specifications are not available at the time of writing. First impressions though are such limitations, but one of the images in the product gallery shows the operating temperature of a Samsung 980 Pro 500GB with M.2 4 cooling compared to the same device sans-heatsink Note what is indicated.
The upper left graph shows the M.2 4-cooled SSD in green. JuiShark’s graph shows a comparison of NAND temperatures, with the second pair of bars being the temperature of the controller. For example, during testing of the M.2 Four, the system was subjected to an unspecified load and the room temperature was 27 degrees.
Compared to last year’s M.2 Three, the cooling performance isn’t as good (the active fan value is light green in the M.2 Three’s graph). However, 40 and 45 degrees Celsius under load for the new model is perfectly acceptable, so it doesn’t make much sense that this component is cold. JuiShark must have weighed this design aspect and decided last year’s model was overengineered for the job.
Another image shows the dimensions of the M.2 Four cooler as 71mm high, 74.5mm long (along the face of the M.2 slot) and 24.5mm wide. Additionally, the stainless steel tray section is 10 mm high. It would be nice to have fan speed and noise stats, as is the case with the M.2 Three, but they are not available.
In Taiwan, the JuiShark M.2 Four is priced at worth $26 For silver or black models with aRGB fans. The all-black, no-RGB model is as cheap as $18.
