Konami Releases First In-Game Screenshots from Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake

Following the announcement at today’s PlayStation Showcase, Konami has released the first screenshots of Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, the remake of Metal Gear Solid 3.

The four screenshots mainly focus on the environmental details of the remake, from the texture of the leaves to the way the sun shines through the jungle canopy. One screenshot shows a Soviet soldier, another shows a ferocious-looking crocodile.

The original game was a Cold War spy thriller set in a fictional Soviet jungle environment. His one of its main conceits was that Snake had to eat food and hunt the local wildlife to survive. In Metal Gear Solid 3, the crocodile is one of the most ferocious enemies in the game, he can swipe Snakes with his tail or bite his leg.

Konami has confirmed that all four screenshots were taken from the in-development version of the game, giving players a clearer glimpse of what to expect from the new remake. The PlayStation Showcase teaser didn’t show any gameplay at all.

The screenshots are consistent with Konami’s promise to faithfully translate the original game to modern consoles, with a particular focus on graphics and sound. Not only the original story is preserved, but also the original voice acting. Other than that, little else is known about Metal Gear Solid Delta Save, due for release on PlayStation 5.

Alongside the announcement of Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake, Konami will feature the first three games in Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. Slated for a Fall 2023 release, Metal Gear Solid Delta is rumored to be released sometime in 2024.

Metal Gear Solid was part of a wider PlayStation showcase that included announcements for Marathon, Alan Wake 2, and more. A full summary can be found here.
