Lionsgate Is Interested in a Major John Wick Video Game Adaptation

Lionsgate has two more John Wick movies in the works, but the studio is also reportedly considering a “big AAA game” based on the franchise.

On today’s earnings call, Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer said the company is in talks about a game proposal, but nothing has been decided yet.

“I don’t want to get ahead of myself here, but I believe there will be a big AAA game out of John Wick,” Feldheimer said on the conference call. Reported by IndieWire“We’ve been making proposals. We’re certainly interested in moving it forward, but don’t want to say more about it at this time.”

As IndieWire pointed out, it would be the first time an action-focused franchise has become a AAA title if Lionsgate succeeds with the game. Bithell Games has already created his John Wick Hex, a strategy game based on the John Wick film series. However, Lionsgate games have a much larger budget.

IGN gave John Wick Hex a 6.8 in its review, calling it an unpolished “simple and smart” strategy game.

Since the franchise began with the release of John Wick in 2014, it has had three films at the box office. In his review of John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum he gave it an 8.5, calling it “chock full of inventive setpieces and brutal kills”. John Wick: Chapter 4 is also set to release in 2023 after being delayed for nearly a year.
