Mario Kart Tour Is Removing Gacha, Its Most Controversial Feature

Mario Kart Tour Removes Gacha Pipes, Stopping Its Most Controversial Feature.

Gacha mechanics are a popular form of loot box-like drops in mobile games, and Mario Kart Tour offered them in the form of pipes. I was able to get a driver, kart, and glider randomly. Just like old gachapon machines, players get completely random items. Duplicates were not allowed, but some luck was required to get the karts and drivers you wanted. Even worse, it could set players back hundreds of dollars for acquiring certain limited-time drivers.

Now the game has replaced Pipes with the new Spotlight Shop, allowing players to buy drivers, karts, and gliders to get what they want without relying on sheer luck.

“We’re adding a spotlight shop where you can trade rubies for drivers, karts, and gliders on the tour,” an in-game notification ( VGC). “There will be new drivers, karts and gliders as well as old drivers, karts and gliders.”

According to an in-game notification, pipes that can currently be fired using rubies will be removed from the game entirely. The new Spotlight Shop will debut on tours starting October 4, 2022 onwards. It may still cost more, but it’s definitely a fairer way for players to purchase items.

In addition to the new Spotlight Shop, Mario Kart Tour also adds a brand new Battle Mode that allows players to go head-to-head with other players, available in single-player and multiplayer modes.

As with other Mario Kart Battle modes, each player starts with a number of balloons attached to their cart, with the goal of popping the opponent’s balloons to save their own.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe — Booster Course Pass Screenshots

Mario Kart Tour launched in September 2019 and saw a huge number of drivers and karts in-game. To date he has over 190 drivers, 240 karts and 170 gliders available, many of them exclusively for Gacha his pipes. Now it looks like players will get the chance to pick up what they missed via Spotlight his shop.

Mario Kart Tour also offers a number of new courses, many of which are directed towards Mario Kart 8 Deluxe in the Booster Course Pass DLC. Want to know more about Mario Kart? Find out what’s new in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass Wave 2 and how Coconut Mall got a new update.
