Matt Mercer Confirms He’s Voicing Ganon in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

Yesterday, Nintendo premiered the third trailer for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Of course, fans were quick to talk about Ganondorf’s return, and now the iconic character’s recognizable voice actor has confirmed his involvement in the game.

After months of fan speculation that began with the February trailer, Matthew Mercer confirmed in a tweet last night that he’s voicing Ganon in Tears of the Kingdom. “I am very honored that I have committed myself to doing justice.

Mercer, known as the Dungeon Master of Critical Role, previously portrayed Ganondorf in his own web series, There Will Be Brawl. He has also voiced characters such as Yusuke Kitagawa from Persona 5, Cole Cassidy from Overwatch, and Levi Ackerman from Attack on Titan.

“A lot of people know the weight of the expectations on my shoulders. I want you to be proud,” he continued in the thread. Thank you so much for entrusting me with such a badass job. <3"

Tears of the Kingdom is set to release on May 12th. Of course, Matt’s Mercer role isn’t the only new information about the upcoming game. There are many other small details that are done.
