Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake Devs On Whether Kojima Is Involved and Why They Picked This Game

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is one of the biggest announcements at the PlayStation Showcase in recent times, and IGN has had the opportunity to speak with the game’s development team to learn more about exactly what this remake is all about. had.

The team wasn’t quite ready to reveal everything about Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, which currently doesn’t have a release date, but a little bit about whether Hideo Kojima or Yoji Shinkawa are involved in the project. I was ready to speak. If there were more remakes of the Metal Gear series, etc.

Are the creators of Metal Gear Solid Δ Snake Eater and Hideo Kojima involved?

One of the biggest questions many had after the announcement was whether Metal Gear Solid 3 director Hideo Kojima was involved with the project. Kojima’s involvement in the project wasn’t expected much, especially after his split with Konami, but questions still remained.

I also asked if Yoji Shinkawa was involved. Mr. Shinkawa has been an integral part of the art of the Metal Gear Solid series and currently works alongside Mr. Kojima at Kojima Productions.

A Konami spokesperson said, “They were not involved.” “However, the development team will continue to work hard to create this remake and port of[Metal Gear Solid: The Master Collection]so that more players around the world can enjoy it on multiple platforms.”

For those unfamiliar, Metal Gear Solid: The Master Collection Vol. 1 was announced at the same time as Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, and was originally released as Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, and Metal Gear Solid. 3: Includes Snake Eater, Metal Gear 1 and 2. This collection will appear in the fall. 2023.

So who is working on the remake? Ultimately, that “central role” will be taken over by “Konami developers who have been involved in the production of past works.” [games in the] “The Metal Gear series.” These developers will be working with Virtuos, a studio that “was also involved in the production of previous works in the Metal Gear series.” This confirms previous rumors that Virtuos is working on everything from his Dark Souls remaster. I was involved in the remake of “Uncharted 4”.

I then asked why the team chose to start with Metal Gear Solid 3 instead of the first Metal Gear Solid, all because this third installment actually sparked a larger Metal Gear story. It all seemed to boil down to the fact that

A spokesperson for Konami said, “We chose ‘Metal Gear Solid 3 Snake Eater’ because it depicts the birth of BIG BOSS (Naked Snake), the origin of the Metal Gear series.” “Another reason is that many fans have long requested a remake of this game.”

Fans also seem to be a big factor in whether there will be a Metal Gear remake or an entirely new game in the future. Despite our request, Konami was careful not to mention any new titles, but said, “With the exception of ‘Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater’, we will listen to players’ requests for remakes of previous games in the series. We shared that “tilt and consider accordingly.”

Why “Metal Gear Solid Delta” instead of “Metal Gear Solid 3”?

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is clearly a remake of Metal Gear Solid 3, but we’ll start by asking why instead of calling something similar Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater Remake, Delta’s I asked him if he had decided to adopt the symbol. Konami briefly explained on Twitter why they made this decision, and the developer went into a bit more detail in our chat.

A spokesperson for Konami said, “It was chosen because the meaning of the delta mark (Δ) matches the concept of the remake project.” “Delta is a Greek letter that means ‘change’ or ‘difference’ in mathematics and variables, and it also means changing the amount without changing the structure.

Speaking of changes, Konami confirmed that the remake will not update or change the story. At IGN, this story is one of the main reasons Kojima put Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater at the top of his 2015 ranking of Kojima’s games, so for that matter Not very upset.

“And then there’s that ending,” we said of Metal Gear Solid 3’s story. “A narrative ending gut punch that retroactively moves the entire series. Love, honor, betrayal and all the best elements of Metal Gear Solid wrapped up in one beautifully camouflaged package for him.”

Replacing Snake’s cast in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain was one of the game’s most controversial decisions, but Konami was adamant in that area as well, wanting to keep everything in the original game. I shared that the character’s voice will be changed. Same with the remake version. Whether this means more Metal Gear Solid remakes will be in the works remains to be seen.

Konami said, “Regarding remakes of previous games in the series other than ‘Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater’, we will listen to user requests and consider them accordingly.”
