Mojang and Wizards of the Coast are Collaborating on Dungeons & Dragons Crossovers

During the Dungeons & Dragons livestream hosted by Wizards of the Coast, the tabletop game maker announced two new collaborations with video game developer Mojang, creator of Minecraft.

The first collaboration was a DLC for Minecraft itself (You can watch the trailer here) introduces Minecraft sandbox reskins, new enemies like Mimics and Beholders to defeat in custom D&D landscapes, and more. Not only were iconic locations from The Forgotten Realms shown off in the trailer, but there were what appeared to be unique enemies and possibly even boss fights. Like, some were clear reskins, but other enemies appeared that seemed to deviate from Minecraft’s existing creatures.

Meanwhile, Dungeon & Dragons fans can get a free monster compendium full of Minecraft creatures, including creepers and endermen. This player resource provides stat blocks for various Minecraft villains. These villains can be used in his D&D campaigns by anyone looking to inject blocky charm into their dungeons.

So far, the Minecraft DLC’s exact release date hasn’t been revealed, just announced as “coming soon,” but the Minecraft Monstrous Compendium is now available on the Minecraft and D&D websites.
