More Kirby Games Might Get Remade if Developers Can ‘Provide a New Gameplay Experience’

Kirby fans have recently enjoyed the critical and fan-favorite success Kirby and the Forgotten Land, the ridiculous Kirby’s Dream Buffet, and Kirby’s Dreamland, which came to Nintendo Switch Online earlier this year. 2, and the recent remake of Kirby’s Return to Dream Land: Deluxe. There seem to be more Kirbys than ever before, both old and new. But does this mean classic Kirby fans will see more remakes and ports in the future alongside brand new Kirby games?

Speaking to IGN at the Game Developers Conference, Kirby director Shinya Kumasaki was unable to share specific plans for Kirby’s future, but HAL Labs’ goal has always been to “provide new gameplay experiences. It is said that it is. Developers don’t just remake Kirby games, they only remake them when they can add something new. Finally, an additional Magorol epilogue.

I also asked Kumazaki if he could expect a mix of 2D and 3D Kirby games like Kirby and the Forgotten Land and Kirby’s Return to Dream Land Deluxe. Again, Kumazaki didn’t reveal anything about the future, but 2D games, 3D games, or even “something completely different” are “within” the future of HAL Labs. confirmed.

He then offered what might have been a small, additional hint about his thoughts on the future:

“Those who have played Forgotten Land may have experienced that, but it is not a completely open world. That’s the unique 3D experience we want to offer, so what we want to move forward is to continue to provide that unique 3D experience, not necessarily within existing genre boundaries.”

Also, Kumazaki and Tatsuya Kamiyama discuss why Kirby and Forgotten Land was the “Breath of the Wild” in the Kirby series, and whether the final boss of Forgotten Land was too difficult (or not challenging enough). I spoke to For players given the friendly nature of Kirby.
