NBA 2K23 Is Putting Michael Jordan On the Cover While Bringing Back the Iconic Jordan Challenges

Basketball legend Michael Jordan becomes the cover star for the special edition of NBA 2K23, and 2K revives the iconic Jordan Challenge. The publisher also confirmed the September 9th release date and announced that the six NBA champions would be on the cover of the properly named Mikel Jordan Edition and Limited Championship Edition.

Jordan was chosen not only because the 2K23 matches his iconic jersey number, but also because his spirit matches Answer the Call, the theme of this year’s MyPlayer campaign mode. Alfie Brody, Vice President of Global Marketing Strategy at NBA 2K, said:

NBA2K23 Michael Jordan and Championship Edition Cover

The prices for these editions haven’t been disclosed (as well as the standard edition cover star), but last year’s special edition (like the tier of the Michael Jordan edition) is the standard price of 59.99, depending on the console generation. It was $ 99.99 compared to $ 69.99.

However, the Championship Edition is a new tier of the NBA 2K Edition and comes with a one-year subscription to the NBA League Pass. This gives you access to all the real NBA games on your TV. Given that it’s $ 50 in itself, anyone looking to buy this most expensive edition should expect a significant price increase.

2K hasn’t revealed much else about the content of each edition, but has confirmed that NBA 2K11’s iconic Jordan Challenge is back in this year’s game. The Jordan Challenge was a series of 10 challenges where players had to recreate the crucial moments of Jordan’s career.

The 2K23 will slightly upgrade 15 different challenges, but will draw moments from Jordan’s NBA career at the Chicago Bulls alongside Team USA playtime. All 10 original challenges have been rebuilt from scratch and will work with the remaining 5 in their own game mode.

The 2K23 will feature Jordan four times on the NBA 2K cover, first in 2K11 (along with the original Jordan Challenge), then in 2K12, and then in the 2K16 Special Edition.

2K promised more details to arrive soon, but more details for the Jordan Challenges will be released sometime this summer.
