New Aaeon SBC Puts Alder Lake on a Tiny Board

Known as GENE-ADP6, the product is targeted at machine vision and edge computing applications as well as digital signage. At the heart of the board is 12th Gen Intel silicon, from the Celeron 7305E (5 cores, 5 threads, up to 4.2 GHz boost) to the powerful i7-1270PE (12 cores, 16 threads, up to 4.5 GHz boost). This is backed by dual channel DDR5-4800 with capacities up to 64GB. There’s also a UEFI BIOS and TPM2 chip, Iris Xe graphics, an M.2 2280 slot for a PCIe 4.0 x4 SSD, and a SATA port. Wi-Fi and 5G connectivity can be added with an additional M.2 module.

On the back is a pair of Ethernet sockets, one 2.5Gb and one 1Gb, and three USB 3 Type-A and one Type-C ports. USB 2 is available via a pin header on the board itself, but both HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort 1.4a are also present. Additional screens can be pushed through the LVDS and built-in DisplayPort interfaces to reach the target of 4 screens.

Power comes from an AT or ATX power supply and the board can accept anything from 9 volts to 36 volts. Software support is provided in the form of Windows and Ubuntu 22.04. (opens in new tab).
