Next-Gen AMD Threadripper Coolers Incoming

Unlike other manufacturers of cooling systems, noctua advertises its roadmap on its website, which it constantly updates to reflect changes in its product development plans. The company’s May 2023 roadmap brings some surprises, like adding a “next-gen AMD Threadripper cooler” and removing the white fan from the plan.

The most eye-catching thing on Noctua’s roadmap is the mention of a “next-generation AMD Threadripper cooler” coming in Q3. Those products weren’t on his January roadmap, according to slides published by. tom’s hardwareAMD has been rumored to be introducing next-generation Ryzen Threadripper processors for workstations for some time, but this is pretty much the first time we’ve actually seen one. More or less official confirmation of the existence of such plans, albeit not from AMD, but from one of its partners.

Since the confirmation is not from the CPU developers, they are not going to put any money into launching the next-generation Ryzen Threadripper based on the Zen 4 microarchitecture in Q3. Meanwhile, AMD’s codenamed Storm Peak processors haven’t updated this lineup in a while, so it’s reasonable to expect them to arrive sooner or later.

Other notable things on Noctua’s roadmap are a series of Chromax black products due in Q4, a 24V to 12V voltage converter set arriving in Q2, and a 24V 40 mm fan. It emphasizes that the company considers it essential to address the ATX12VO ecosystem. In addition, the company is preparing for the next generation of 140 mm fans, which will normally arrive in the first quarter of 2024. , and will come later in the year in Chromax (black version).

Unfortunately, Noctua’s next-generation NH-D15 cooler, which was once promised to arrive in Q1 2023, isn’t scheduled for 2024. Meanwhile, the company’s roadmap no longer includes white fans for unexplained reasons. Perhaps the company decided to put its resources elsewhere, or perhaps the white plastic the company considered for its white fans didn’t live up to expectations.
