nOS is a New Switch App That Turns the Console Into a Mini Tablet

The Nintendo Switch has significantly fewer customization features and apps than its handheld predecessor — themes cannot be customized beyond two simple colors, users cannot rearrange the home screen, and the 3DS’ Game It doesn’t have the ability to take notes like the Notes app. .

But today, indie developer and publisher RedDeerGames released nOS: New Operating System. Here’s an app for the Switch that he seems to bring to life some of those little widgets that consoles are missing all in one tiny OS.

The app includes all the features that come with modern operating systems: calculator, gallery, notebook, to-do list, drawing apps like MS Paint, puzzle games, customizable settings, and more. Like modern OSes, users can have multiple windows open at once, allowing them to multitask, but there is currently no browser or other features.

According to the game’s press kit, it normally costs a hefty $39.99, but it’s currently on sale for $1.99 until February 16th.

Of course, nOS isn’t the only new title heading to the Switch this year. With the long-awaited Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom and the recently announced Pikmin 4, there’s a lot to expect from Nintendo in 2023.
