Irina Dilkinska, a Bulgarian woman involved in the OneCoin cryptocurrency scam, has been extradited to the United States and charged, according to the DOJ. March 21st.

Dilkinska faces multiple charges

The US Department of Justice announced that Dilkinska was handed over on March 20 and is expected to appear before a US magistrate soon.

Dilkinska served as OneCoin’s Legal and Compliance Officer. Newly unsealed charges against Dilkinska allege she helped set up a shell company to launder and control the assets of “Queen of Cryptocurrencies” Ruja Ignatova.

In addition, Dilkinska allegedly helped OneCoin attorney and co-conspirator Mark Scott launder $400 million in proceeds. After Scott’s arrest, she destroyed her incriminating information and notified another individual of her arrest, thereby convicting herself.

Dilkinska has been charged with one count of conspiracy to wire fraud and one count of conspiracy to launder money, both of which carry a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison. She has not yet been sentenced.

Damien Williams, U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, noted that Dilkinska ironically “did the exact opposite of his title” by facilitating fraud.

Other OneCoin Developments

Various other members of the OneCoin scam have been in the news in recent months.

In December 2022, Karl Sebastian Greenwood was found guilty. That same month, another OneCoin associate, Frank Schneider, was put on trial. Developments regarding his two associates in the UK — Christopher Hamilton and Robert MacDonald — also occurred in 2022.

A February report suggested that scam leader Ruja Ignatova was murdered by a Bulgarian gang in 2018. Neither report has been verified or acknowledged by the DOJ, which continues to seek information regarding her Ignatova’s whereabouts.

OneCoin successfully stole $4 billion from victims.
