Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Sell Over 10 Million Units in Their First Three Days and Set a Nintendo Record

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet not only sold an astounding 10 million units in the first three days of their launch, but also achieved “the highest global sales level of any software on any Nintendo platform” during that period. I’m here.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet will launch worldwide on November 18, 2022, and Nintendo’s sales of these games include both physical and digital versions.

The latest entry in the legendary Pokémon franchise is the second appearance in the mainline franchise after Pokémon Sword and Shield. For comparison, Sword and Shield sold over 6 million copies in its first week. This was the record for the fastest-selling Switch title at the time.

On Switch, since 2017, “Pocket Monsters Let’s Go Pikachu! and Let’s Go, Eevee! , Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, and Pokemon Legends: Arceus.

These sales figures were achieved despite the obvious technical issues plaguing Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. That said, games surrounding these bugs seem to be something special.

An ongoing review of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet states, “After several years of experimenting on the Switch, Game Freak has finally stumbled upon an open-world formula. We’ve successfully reinvented the way Pokemon is played: exploration, adventure, and collecting cute monsters.”

“In nearly every way, it’s the transformation I’ve been waiting for. But the woefully poor performance that comes with it severely undermines an otherwise exciting design evolution.”
