Pre-Launch ‘Jedi: Survivor’ Eats 21GB of VRAM, Struggles on RTX 4090
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor will be released later today, but early footage has revealed serious issues with optimizing the game on PC. Issues include micro-stutter issues, low frame rates, and very high VRAM usage. The problem is so severe that the best GPUs like the RTX 3080 Ti and RTX 4090 don’t even reach 60 frames per second. VRAM usage is extreme, games he well over 15GB and sometimes over 21GB.
These reports are eckharz ladder and game star On YouTube, the two shared their concerns about the game’s performance in a video released yesterday. In particular, the Eckharz ladder I got it 50 fps was the maximum frame rate we were able to consistently achieve with the RTX 3080 Ti, and changing the game’s graphics settings didn’t improve performance. He also pointed out several game-breaking issues, including broken cutscenes and broken audio.
GameStar shared the full 11 minutes Demonstration of performance issues in Jedi: Survivor, using his high-end gaming rig with an RTX 4090, Ryzen 9 5900X, and 32GB of memory. In his 1440p playtests, he averaged 35-45 fps at best in most games, and only in certain enclosed areas he maxed out at 60 fps. GPU utilization was also very poor, with the game only using about 50% of his GPU’s power.
Thankfully, EA and Respawn have fixed these issues. EA Tweets yesterday The game will receive a launch day patch to fix bugs and improve performance.Additionally, EckhartsLadder notes that Respawn regularly releases new patches for pre-release versions. Jedi: Survivor It fixes those same performance issues.
For GeForce owners, Nvidia also recently pushed a new Game Ready driver that adds optimizations. Jedi: Survivor This should further improve performance on Nvidia GPUs.
As a result, most of these issues should be fixed when the game releases later today. No need to worry about frame rate drops. EAs Lists recommended system requirements RTX 2070 or RX 6700 XT with DX12 and 8GB of VRAM as recommended features.
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor Playable on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox series consoles. If you pre-ordered the game or rented it through EA PlayPro, you can preload the game now (which is great given the game’s 130GB file size and 155GB storage requirement).
