Raspberry Pi Generates QR Codes to Unlock Gates and Doors

You can never be too diligent when it comes to home security. The idea, according to the team, is to replace the usual lock and key system with something more digital and smartphone-accessible.

A user can use a web or mobile application to generate a QR code to unlock a door or gate. You can send her QR code to anyone who needs access to the lock. In addition, the QR scanner reads the code, identifies it, and triggers the unlocking mechanism when logging the event to the database. Ensure that access is granted to those who need it and activity is tracked.

For the project demonstration, the team uses a Raspberry Pi, motion sensor, CM2D QR scanner, 12V relay and 8GB microSD card. However, you can fix the problem by changing a few components to suit your project needs. To save costs and add flexibility, there are plans to update the system to be compatible with another microcontroller, the ESP32.
