Raspberry Pi Guardian from Legend of Zelda Tracks People with AI

With the recent release of The Legend of Zelda: Kingdom of Tears, fans are excited and enthusiastic – some even go so far as to stream games on their old Nintendo 64s. Today we also got another cool Zelda-themed game. raspberry pi A piece to share with you, this one was created by maker and developer Naomi Pentrell. With the help of a 3D printer and a little patience, she created her own replica of one of them. Guardian can be found in The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild I programmed it on my Pi to track people using AI.

Guardian is equipped with a camera module that monitors the surroundings. Once an object is detected, the machine learning side processes the image to determine if people or pets are visible. Once the creature is successfully identified, it uses servos to rotate its head and track it around the room.

Guardian works with a Raspberry Pi 4, but a 3B+ can be used instead. It is connected to the Raspberry Pi Camera v 1.3 using a 50cm ribbon cable. This project contains an SG90 servo that rotates up to 180 degrees. A few LEDs are also thrown into the mix, and a speaker is included for audio output. In this case Pentrel is using his 2 Watt speaker.

The Guardian model was created by a designer known as stevet in Thingiverse. Pentrell explained that a friend of his helped him modify the hackable model to suit the needs of the project. It can also be found at Singiverse For those who want to print at home. Along with creating a realistic base for the grass and flowers, the final touches required a paint job.

Software-wise, it relies on some scripts written in Python 3. The machine learning aspect was built using Viam. Pentrel contains many details on how to set up a project on Viam, including the model used to train the image recognition used in the camera in the tutorial.
